French Alps Treks has been based in Le Chazelet, La Grave, Hautes Alpes since 2004.
We have extensive experience and local knowledge of the GR54: Tour des Ecrins & the La Grave/Romanche Valley treks.
Fully guided high mountain treks are available June to Sept. Small groups 4-6 max.
Other mountain regions close by which we often visit include the Cerces, Queyras, Alpes Maritimes and Mercantour National Park.

The finest and one of the most challenging Grande Randonnées (GRs) in the French Alps. A 180km+ circular route in and around the Ecrins National Park. Involves 12* days hiking, traversing 14 high cols at a maximum altitude of 2735m and a total ascent of 12800m. A must for any fit and active walker!
*A 6-day option along the southern section is also possible.
Cost includes all guiding and half board accommodation during the trek: from €1150-1950.

Haute Romanche trek
This 5 or 6* day trek winds through the beautiful and varied mountain landscapes of the upper Romanche valley. Starting in La Grave, the route traverses some of the best mountain scenery in the Alps – crossing the Plateau d’Emparis, ascending the majestic Pic du Mas de la Grave (3020 m), skirting the mythical La Meije (3983 m) and into the heart of the Ecrins National Park to discover the source of the Romanche river.
*An optional extra day continues to the Adele Planchard high mountain refuge. Situated at 3169 m with views of the Barre des Ecrins (4102m) this option is thoroughly recommended to the adventurous trekker who would like to spend the night at over 3000 m!

La Meije to Mediterranean:
Come on a fantastic journey through the Southern French Alps.
A variation on the Grande Traverse des Alpes (GR5) southern section. Starting in La Grave this trek covers 200+ km visiting the best of the Ecrins, Queyras and Mercantour parks. 12-14 days trekking before arriving in Nice ready for a swim in the Med!
Starting in La Grave at the majestic La Meije (3983 m) we head southeast through the Cerces, Queyras and Mercantour regional parks. Our route follows parts of the GR5 trails but with variations seeking out the wonderful landscapes along the Italian border and on through the Valley des Merveilles (Marvels). Taking in some of the Alps most spectacular scenery eventually dropping down to the Cote d’Azur for a well-earned swim in the Med. Small groups (max 4/5 persons). Cost includes guiding, all accommodation and meals in huts: from €2250 per person.
